February 15th 2020, the WATTS Crew got together for an indoor triathlon.
With an emphasis on creating a group atmosphere, each event was timed instead of being a set distance.
The swim was for 20 minutes – run for 30 minutes and cycled last for 90 minutes, close to an Olympic distance triathlon.
This turned out to be a great way to build team comradery and even allowed for some trash talk.
The Weston Area Triathlon Team Swim (or WATTS) got together for a fun indoor triathlon Feb 15th. The indoor triathlon was a great group workout day, were each sport was started and stopped at the same time. Everyone had 20 minutes to swim as far as they could. Then 30 minutes to run as far as they could and finally 90 minutes to bike as far as they could.
This format allowed everyone to enjoy each others company, do some trash talking, and put everyone on an even playing field. It really forces you to race yourself first, as you can not tell who would be in front of you at the time. I’d like to put a big thank you out there to all the participants! You guys were amazing. Considering it is the middle of February and no one is in race condition, I’d say we smashed it.
Thank you as well to all the members of the YMCA there that day, I know we were a big roving band of craziness, and that can always be difficult to deal with when you’re just trying to get your workout in. Finally a huge thank you to Keith for doing the majority of the filming, literally this video couldn’t have happened without you.
