Races This Past Year
- Rib Mountain Adventure Race – Winter
- First adventure race, such an amazingly fun time, like being a kid again!
- Ironman Tulsa
- Deferred race from 2020 due to covid, set a new Ironman PR even on legs that hadn’t run for a month before race day.
- Wausau Half Marathon
- Still wasn’t fully trained up, but went out and almost hit a PR without any pressure, ran it for fun and enjoyed the day.
- Birthday 40
- Still wasn’t feeling like I had enough miles of training in, it went slow, but persistence got me there.
- Fall 50 Relay
- A week after injuring the left ankle, this was a blast of an event though, and super happy our team took 3rd in masters
- Turkey Trot
- 2 seconds from breaking 20, still remaining one of my original running goals, next year.
Start of Something New
- Ironbull Board Member
- Joined the board at the start of the year, with the intent to help get more people in our community enjoying the outdoors and pushing themselves through silent sports in ways they may have never thought possible.
- WausaUltra founded & first race completed
- The inaugural WausaUltra Backyard race was a smashing success with the winner and runner up going for 39 hours! This group of people are all completely amazing and working with them this past year has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
Life Events
- Job changed back to Rocket Industrial
- Bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee
- Bought a Camper
- Bought and Sold houses
- Traveled to Glacier National Park
- Major Car accident – Lost the Jeep
- Bought another more different Jeep
- First Wedding since Covid
- First Work conference / Travel since Covid
So all in all, 2021 has been insanely busy, in so many un-anticipated ways. Kel and I have navigated through all of these changes pretty well and quite happy. Looking forward to bigger adventures in 2022!

All together this was the largest year of training to date. All the time out in the water, on the roads and trails let you cover a lot of ground. This year I’ve also started trying to explore more, running and riding new areas. Strava is kind enough to keep track of all of your events and map them all out into a single heatmap. I present the past 4 years:

Excited to see what next year brings.
