Designing Plans to Smash Goals

Setting a big, scary goal is the best motivator. Knowing that there’s a this huge event on the horizon, one you may not be able to succeed in accomplishing without putting in the work, is the best way I know to keep you going. Every day, a new opportunity to raise to the occasion and take another step towards success. While it’s bound to be hard, the process becomes a lifestyle, changing your life trajectory forever. You’ll be amazed at just what’s possible!

Training is based off of your goals. Working backwards from race day(s), to layout the best possible method for delivering you to the start line, fit, healthy, rested and ready to unleash your new capabilities. The length of the race will directly influence the duration of the training block. While it may be possible to go from couch to 5k in a month, doing an Ironman in that time would be near impossible for most people.

Over the past 5 years of self-coaching myself and working with many endurance athletes within triathlon and ultra running, I’ve been able to focus in on a method that works quite well. Typically building for 2-3 weeks until a recovery week, and cranking up the difficulty and duration of workouts over time. While each athlete and plan is different, this type of training seems to bring the best results.

I’m looking forward to finding out what your goals are, and how I might be able to help you achieve your full potential. Utilizing TrainingPeaks I’d be able to set a plan and track your workout progress. All you’d need is a fitness tracking watch that can connect to the TrainingPeaks app.

Reach out, and we’ll get you on the path to smashing your goals.

Training for a marathon or Ironman triathlon is no small feat. These events require months of dedicated training and a significant commitment of time and energy. While it’s certainly possible to train on your own, having a coach can make a huge difference in your ability to prepare for and successfully complete these grueling endurance events.

One of the biggest benefits of having a coach is having a tailored training plan. A coach will assess your current fitness level, goals, and any physical limitations you may have, and then create a personalized training plan that is specifically designed to help you reach your goals. This ensures that you are training at the right level of intensity, and reduces the risk of injury from overtraining.

A coach can also provide valuable feedback on your form and technique, which can help you run more efficiently and avoid common injuries. A coach can also provide valuable nutritional advice for before, during and after the race to ensure optimal performance.

Another key benefit of having a coach is accountability. When you’re training for a marathon or Ironman, it can be easy to get bogged down in the day-to-day demands of life and neglect your training. A coach will help you stay on track and motivated, and hold you accountable for meeting your training goals.

A coach also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. A coach who has completed a marathon or Ironman before is going to have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with you. This includes tips on race day strategies, strategies for dealing with the unique challenges of these endurance events, and advice on how to best prepare yourself both physically and mentally.

Lastly, having a coach can also help you maintain perspective and manage stress. These endurance events can be incredibly stressful, especially as the race day approaches. A coach can help you manage your expectations, keep things in perspective, and find healthy ways to manage your stress.

In conclusion, whether you’re training for your first marathon or looking to improve your time in an Ironman triathlon, having a coach can make a huge difference in your ability to achieve your goals. From creating a personalized training plan to providing feedback, accountability and guidance, a coach can help you stay on track and motivated throughout the long months of training and give you the confidence to take on the ultimate endurance challenge and cross the finish line.
